Community Radio Station 90.4 FM is a university-based broadcasting platform dedicated to serving the local community through informative, educational, and entertaining content. The station acts as a bridge between the university and society, promoting awareness, cultural exchange, and grassroots participation.
Out in the far reaches of Haryana, where the land often bears the marks of drought and distance, a voice once rose that changed everything. It was on August 2, 2009, that the airwaves of Radio Sirsa came alive with a new spirit. The Community Radio Station of Chaudhary Devi Lal University—known as ‘Radio Sirsa’—was inaugurated by Bhupender Singh Hooda, the then Chief Minister of Haryana. What began that day was not just a radio station, but a movement of voices, stories, and dreams.
Guided by the vision of its first Director Sh. Virender Singh Chauhan, ‘Radio Sirsa’ started its transmission from 8:00 in the morning till 9:00 at night. The languages it spoke—Hindi, Punjabi, Bagri, and Haryanvi—were not just mediums of communication, they were the very heartbeat of the region. The people heard themselves in it, their culture, their humor, their concerns, and their identity.
Almost instantly, Radio Sirsa became a companion to the people of this remote land. Fields, homes, and streets echoed with its programs. What made it truly special was not just the content, but the voices behind it. Students and members of the local community stepped forward as anchors and presenters, turning ordinary individuals into local celebrities almost overnight.
Programs like Hello Sirsa, led by Virender Singh Chauhan, brought warmth and familiarity to listeners. Fulkari by Preet Bajwa painted vibrant pictures of culture and tradition, while Apno Des by Parbhat Indora and Ram Nath connected people deeply with their roots. Mhara Haryana carried the essence of the land, and Satrangi Pingh added colors of diversity and joy. Shows like Sun Ri Sakhi, Chhota Packet Bada Dhamaka, Sirsa Express, and Bujho to Jano each carved their own space in the hearts of listeners. Presenters like Uma Chaudhary,Shreyeshi Chhatarpati, Aprajita, Sandeep Ramayan, Pushpa Rawat, Dinesh Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Maninder Mani, Sukhjinder Singh, became acquired the status of celebrities among the audience.
As time passed, new voices emerged, each bringing their own charm and energy. Beant Singh and Jaswinder Kaur carried forward the legacy of Fulkari, while Shreyasi Chhatarpati and Sukjhinder added new hues to Satrangi Pingh. Presenters like Gurshad Garry Sandeep Bhurtana, Madan Lal Nokhwal, Chhinder Kaur, Bhagwan Dass Sethi, Avtar Singh, Darshan Singh, Krishan Lal Saini, Rajesh Kumar, and Abhimanyu became familiar names, admired for their style, confidence, and connection with the audience.
Today, though the broadcast hours have changed—from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM—the spirit of Radio Sirsa remains unchanged. Voices like Bhagwan Dass Sethi, Avtar Singh, Chhinder Kaur Sirsa, Darshan Singh Sidhu, Preet Bajwa, Dimple Saini, Vikram Bijrania, and Rajiv Sachdeva continue to keep the station alive and vibrant.
Radio Sirsa is more than just a station. It is a platform where hidden talents find their light. It listens as much as it speaks. It nurtures, celebrates, and connects. In every program it airs, there is a story, a laugh, a lesson, or a melody that brings people together. Hence, in the quiet stretches of Sirsa, when the radio turns on, it is not just sound that fills the air—it is the voice of a community, alive and ever-evolving

List of Directors
Professor Anu Shukla, Professor Umed Singh, Professor Suresh Gehlawat, Professor Vishnu Bhagwan, Professor Dipti Dharmani, Professor Sewa Singh Bajwa and Sr. Amit Sanwan have served as Directors of Community Radio Station Sirsa from time to time. Presently, Professor Sewa Singh Bajwa is serving as the Director of Community Radio StationSira. Dr. Amit Sangwan and Dr. Ravinder are presently serving as Additional Station Directors of CRS, Sirsa.
