About the Department

The Department of Education has been functional since the inception of Chaudhary Devi Lal University in 2003 and is engaged in imparting teacher Education through its committed faculty. The Department is offering B.Ed.(two year), M.A.(two year), and Ph.D. programmes. The course curricula have been designed in a way to master the pupil teachers in handling various issues related to child psychology, latest technology, and innovative methods in their teaching by providing inputs necessary for shaping their overall behaviors and analytical communication abilities. We are also developing a culture of research by encouraging our students in various Educational research areas. Many students of department have been selected at university, college and school levels in the state & outside the state. The faculty of the department is engaged in various Educational research areas.

The Department of Education vision to educate and train the students to be efficient, empathetic and socially responsible individuals.

Mission

The mission of the department is to prepare professionals to serve as teachers, administrators and counselors in Educational Educational settings.

LIBRARY FACILITIES:

A number of latest books are available on each course in the Central Library. Three books can be issued at a time to each student. Various Journals have been subscribed by this department and online journals have also been subscribed by the University to strengthen the research activities. A reading hall is also available round the clock for the students in the Vivekananda Library.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

The students take part in scouts and guides, NSS, adventures camp, mountaineering and excretion activities undertaken by the office of DSW of the University. In addition the students take part in Media fest and Youth Festival, Cultural Fest, first aid training, training programme of British Council, Youth Red cross Competition, inter-college teaching competition, Pulse Polio Abhiyan, Educational films were shown to the students time and again. Students visited Disha (a school of mentally challenged ) and Hellen Killer Blind school, Sirsa, E-Library, Sirsa. Students along with faculty members went on education tours students took part in ASER (Annual Status of Educational Report) which is a part of Partham NGO, students also attend classes organized by British Council for speaking & skills. Celebrate world environment day with collaboration of Ngo, Jai Hindi Parivar.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT:

More than 70 % students are well placed in reputed in Department of Education, Central University, College of Education and Schools. For the training of students, micro teaching, discussion, simulated teaching are organized in the Department. After that they are sent to different schools for real teaching. Many students of B.Ed. have been selected in various schools in the state & outside the state. One of the students named Rohini has been selected as a teacher in 'Jakarta' (Indonesia).

FUTURE PLANS:

1. Modernized Smart Class rooms are essential part of 21st century, our present curriculum is also modified accordingly. To cater the present needs, it is planned to establish ICT lab and Edu. Smart Classrooms to enhance the pedagogical skills of prospective teachers.

2. Workshop on work Education for Pupil Teachers.

3. Training programme for enhancing communication skills of pupil teachers.

4. Establish guidance & counseling chambers to provide services to the community.

5. Faculty members are planning to apply for U.G.C. projects.
