ABOUT, VISION, MISSION AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department of energy and environmental sciences (EES), Chaudhary Devi Lal University is among the first departments of the university established in 2003. The department of energy and environmental sciences is an important, interdisciplinary faculty in the university which aims at developing as a center of excellence on issues pertaining to the relevant spheres supporting the sustainable development of the country and emphasizing on improved environmental management and better health through imparting postgraduate education and research on various issues related to the environmental sciences. The vision, mission, and objectives of the department are to strive for excellence, to achieve sustainable development, to impart training for capacity building, to tackle various environmental challenges in an eco- friendly manner, to offer professional and job oriented course curricula, to strengthen R&D activities and to offer consultancy and extension activities. The department is having well- experienced faculty members trained in international laboratories of repute field of specialization. The faculty members are engaged in extensive research in the frontier areas of environmental sciences like green-building, water and wastewater treatment, pesticide management, climate change, renewable energy, solid waste management, limnology, biopesticide, organic farming, carbon footprinting, biofertilizers, bioremediation, etc, to promote lab to field approach.
The department has a rich collection of textbooks and reference books in the central library. The department has also subscribed to various journals to strengthen the research activities. The students of the department actively participate in various cultural activities like youth festivals and other co-curricular activities organized by DYW, NSS, DSW of this university. The department also organizes various activities/programs on Earth day, Environment day, Ozone day, etc. which improve the student’s skills and confidence. The department has established a training & placement cell that guides students throughout the study and the students of the department have been serving in various fields of environmental services.
